Mom's birthday Card

Here is the card I made for my mom's birthday last week.  I couldn't post it til today b/c she was on vacation and just got it.  Couldn't let her see her own card before she held it in her hands.  Happy Birthday Mama!  Just can't help but go back to my favorites while I am waiting for all the new stuff to arrive!

Mother's Day

Here is a fun Mother's Day card I cased from Beverly J Robertson.  This is the last card we made at my Spring Card Class.

Supplies: 

Stamp Set: Blessed Mother

Paper: Perfect Plum, Whisper White

Ink: Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, Daffodil Delight

Ribbon: 5/8" old olive grosgrain

Tools: Big Shot, Framed Tulip Embossing Folder, decorative label punch, medium oval punch

Accessories: rhinestones, dimensionals

Card Tips:

• Use your markers to color directly on the flower stamp to get all 3 colors on it.
• Stamp off the old olive large flower stamp.  That means, ink it up, stamp it on a scrap piece and then without reinking, stamp again.  This gives it a slightly softer feel.

Spring is Blossoming Promotion!!

It's Friday and I am so excited to be able to share the images of our new Four Frames Stamp Set and Petals Paisley DSP with you!  Here is the 4th card in my series of Four Frames!! I cased this card from Dayanna Donng. 
I thought this was so delicate for a new baby card.  I also liked her idea of embossing 2 layers of paper.  The blushing bride hearts are punch out and then glued onto the paper then put through the big shot.  It almost looks like they have been stamped on the white paper.  Also, our medium oval punch fits perfectly in this space so you can add any sentiment without error :)  I know I already did a tutorial this week, but I have to quickly show you how I colored this ribbon!

Here is a simple card to close out my week of "bliss".  I cased this from Rebekah Jensen, but changed a few things.  I would love to help you get this set for free.

Just about any color would look great on this card.  The "B" is cut out of our corkboard.  It looks cooler in person.

More Framed Tulips

Here is another card using our framed tulips embossing folder.  It is really growing on me.  This card was cased from Selene Kempton with a few changes.

I'm not sure the pink bow looks great at the bottom, but it needed something and the color coach told me to use Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi and Pretty In Pink....I do what I am told :)

Dimensions: 
Main Vanilla: 5.5"x4.25"
Choc: 5-3/8" x 4-1/8"
Vanilla frame: 5.25"x 4"
smaller Choc: 3.75" x 3-7/8" (before using scallop trim border punch)
smallest vanilla: 2.5" x 3-3/8"

PUT YOUR THINKING CAPS ON!!!   Ok, I won't say this technique didn't give me a headache.  But, I have worked out all the kinks so you don't have to.  I'm excited to share a video on how to use our framed tulips embossing folder.

Card Tips: 

Paper Sizes: Main card is 4.25x5.5", saffron is 4 x 5.25", DSP is 5-1/8" x 3-7/8", the larger square is 3-1/8" and the honey comb DSP on top of it is 3".  The smaller rectangle is 3-9/16" x 2.25" and the tulip frame is 3-7/16" x 2-3/16".  The brown strip is 1x4.25".  Shoo....lots of measuring.  One thing I will mention about the square lattice embossing folder I used on the brown strip...the embossing is so tight that it does shrink a little bit when you run it through the big shot.  Just keep that in mind if you are counting on an exact size.

After I did the tulip frame, I took 2 scrap pieces of paper and put it over the left and bottom sides of the paper.  Then I stamped the flower on it.  It gives it a soft outline.  

The card that Lee did was much better as far as the coloring on the tulips.  She used a marker to color the tulips.  It is a pretty technique.  I just used daubers.  Next time I do this, I'll try the markers.  If you do it that way, there won't be any ink in between the tulips.  Just a different look.

The bird is popping up on dimensionals and yes, I did use an exacto knife to get between his legs.  Kinda tedious, but necessary :)

Ok, here is what you have been waiting for...the very detailed video technique for resizing the framed tulip embossing  folder.  Get comfortable, I have a feeling it's going to be a long one :)

Dimensions of Frames before embossing:

8 tulips x 11 tulips (5.25x4)

8 tulips x 6 tulips (4x3.25)

6 tulips x 6 tulips (3.25 square)

3 tulips x 8 tulips (4x2)

3 tulips x 2 tulips (2-1/8 x 1-5/8)

1 tulips x 11 tulips (5.25 x 1-1/8)

Once you get the hang of it, you can make any size.

Mojo Monday 178

I LOVE it when my baby takes a good nap in the AM.  I was able to work on my mojo this morning!  I am very proud of this one.  I wasn't last week, but this week, YES!  Here she is...

 I can't tell you how much I love these sketches.  The hardest thing about making a card is coming up with the layout.  From there, my juices flow.  As I said yesterday, this week I'll be focusing on Nature Walk and the coordinating DSP Botanical Gazette.

I didn't have the right kind of ribbon to hang the birdcage until I saw this little piece of 3/8" white taffeta ribbon.  It was calling out to me...I can be any color you want...don't forget about me!  So, I grabbed him and colored him with my not so navy marker.  And TA...DA!!!  I then used the scrunchy ribbon technique from a few weeks ago.  Click here for a refresher.
