Take a Deep Breath!

Stampin' Up! just released the retiring accessories list today.  Before you freak out, take a deep breath and peruse the list slowly.  If you are a die hard SU! gal, this list might make you upset, angry or just sad.  You will have lots of questions about things.  I wanted to share this email I got from one of my sweet friends who was very concerned about the list and wanted to understand.

"I called Stampin Up! I'm devastated! Literally! The 12x12 cardstock on the retiring list will not be returning! They will only offer 8.5x11 in those colors now!
He said the markers will be returning but not individually. They will be offered in family color packs only. The reconfigured ink pads will be slightly different from the ones now as far as shade goes! So, the markers and refills will be reconfigured with the pads."

This is a normal reaction, but I have been with this company for 8 years and they are not stupid and don't do anything w/o serious research and deliberation among lots of different people including demonstrators.  Every change that has been made over the last 8 years has bettered this company and what they strive for.  If there is a product that isn't the absolute best out there, SU! will fix it!  That's why they are such an amazing company.

So, get a cup of coffee (so, if you get mad, you know you won't want to burn yourself) and really focus on the things that are important to you.

If you are a demo, thinking about embracing this change, gather up your accessories and have a big garage sale making room for what I am sure will be an incredible new list of accessories.  It is our job to provide the most current product to our customers.  So, hold on to those products you can't live w/o and say good bye to the others.

If you are a customer, don't worry, like I said, the upcoming products will become our new favorites.  That's just what happens.  So, buy a bunch of refills for your favorite colors and paper and then get excited about what is to come!

I will be losing a lot of "friends" this year and I am honestly surprised how many.  I lose 2-6 stamp sets a year, but this is a lot!!

I hope this helps those of you who are honestly worried.  It will be ok :)

PS...the occasions mini ends next Monday so get a big order together of retired stuff and mini stuff and then enjoy them over May.  Then, gear up for an incredible 2012-2013 catalog launch June 1st!

Another Reject

This project was another reject I share at club this month.  I will be selling these at the Botanical Gardens Artstroll on April 14th.  These are empty accessory containers wrapped just so nicely.  There are magnets on the back.  I will probably make some more youthful ones to sell as well :)  IT reminds me of the Easter hats I used to wear when I was a little girl!  I wish that  trend hadn't ended.  Click here to see the tutorial.

Supplies:
Paper: Twitterpated DSP, Riding Hood Red, Pear Pizzazz, scrap cardboard or chipboard
Tools: Big Shot, scallop circle die, 2.5" circle punch, boho blossom punch, blossom builder punch
Accessories: blushing bride pleated ribbon, gold brads, sticky strip

Well, for the first time in my whole life, I had the flu this year.  Therefore, I missed our downline meeting this month.  I was honestly devastated!!  I love my girls!!  I can honestly say I love all of them!  No black sheep in our group!  Since I couldn't make it, here is what I missed!  I am so lucky to have these girls!

Mother's Day Class

No matter if your mom lives across town or across the country, every mother needs to feel loved on Mother's Day!

I have created this special Mother's Day Class to celebrate our moms!  If you don't want to make these items for your mother, they can easily be personalized for anyone you'd like :)

The cost for this class is $30 and includes the "mom" blocks, Mom card, Mom flower candy box, beaded pen and enclosure card/candy box.  These could easily be split among 2 mothers if you have 2 mothers to give to.

As an extra bonus, the mixed bunch set will be retiring with this mini catalog so this is your chance to get it.  I will be offering my discount on the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and Blossom punch if you are interested.  Together they would be $40.  It'd be great if you had your own set of these products.

For this class you must bring sticky strip (red bologna tape.  It's important that you have the right thing so ask if you don't know), mini glue dots, a heat tool if you have one and if you have the mixed bunch set/ blossom punch, that would be very helpful.

I will be in my new house so please don't go to the normal house :)

If you would like to make more than 1 of any of the projects, please let me know ahead of time too.

We must have rsvps by Sunday the 29th to ensure I can get some of the items in the mini.  Please do your best to reply on time :)

I hope you can make it!  Bring a friend, bring your daughter, bring your mother!  It will be so fun!

This will have wrapped Hershey nuggets in it.  Just couldn't make it to the store before I had to post this.

Simply Sent

Here is another great way that SU! allows new crafters to start out slowly and confidently!  Simply Sent kits are great gifts or a great way to keep a stock pile of cards for when you need them.  Here is what our Create&Keep Simply Sent Kit looks like.  It comes with enough supplies to make this fun organizer and 10 cards with really pretty envelopes.  Here are cards I have seen online. Just duplicate them and have a blast!

Sister

This was a neat technique that I saw on Debbie Henderson's Blog.  You can make your own texture plates.  See Debbie's Post here.  Here's what I did with it!  Can you see the faint blossom images in the background?  In her tutorial she actually used a die to cut out her "chipboard", but I used a thin cardboard and punched out the blossom punch on it.  Either way :)  I also wanted to add that you can take 3 of the modern label punches and criss cross on top of the blossom punch to make a fun layering.

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Family Reunion, mixed bunch
Paper: Island Indigo, Pool Party, White
Ink: Island Indigo, pool party
Tools: Big Shot, DIY texture plate, blossom punch, modern label punch, 3/4" and 1" circle punches, lace ribbon border punch, word window punch
Accessories: in color brads, pool party ruffled ribbon

Mixed Bunch

I got this one from Inking Idaho.  We didn't end up doing it at the class b/c it was just too many products.  So, those of you who got the tools from this class...have at it!!  Just don't do what I did.  When you cut the framelit, make sure your pattern is straight.  This driving me crazy b/c even though the frame is lined up with the N and S points, it still looks crooked!!  AAAHHH!!!

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Fabulous Phrases, Mixed Bunch
Ink: Real Red, pool party
Paper: Everyday Enchantment DSP, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Real Red, White
Tools: Big Shot, top note die, labels framelits, blossom punch, 5-petal punch, boho blossoms punch, 1" and 1-1/4" circle punches, vintage wallpaper EF, jewelry tag punch
Accessories: dimensionals, gold brad

Chocolate Covered Strawberries?

I tell ya!  SU! keeps coming out with the most adorable dies for our Big Shot.  I keep hearing so much about the cricut and what all it can do, but I am a Big Shot girl through and through!  I am even more thrilled that I am a part of a community of women who can look at a product for what it could be rather than how it is presented!  Here is the perfect example!  Can you tell what die I used?  Yep, the Petal Cone Die!
Here is the tutorial on how to make this adorable project!  I plan on making a few of these to sell at the ArtStroll and filling them with candy.  We'll see.

Quick Enclosure Card

I love this card I cased from something I saw on Punch Addiction.  It's so easy to whip out one of these.  I actually grabbed on the way out of the house on the way to a bday party!  Super Cute!  I made the envelope using the simply scored diagonal plate.  The directions are included with the plate.  Just make 10 of these really quick and you'll always have a card ready for that last minute gift.
Supplies:
Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Espresso
Paper: Sweet Shop DSP, White, Calypso Coral
Tools: modern label punch, 2.5" circle punch, butterfly punch, simply scored tool and diagonal plate

For my Bookworms

For some reason in my old age (35:), I have been wanting to read instead of watch TV.  My mom would be so proud of me!  All that is true if I am not crafting.  That takes priority over reading and watch TV.  So, the other day I saw this tutorial on Mary Fish's blog.  You use the simply scored diagonal plate to make this QT pie.  I gave it away as a door prize at club and I'm kinda kickin' myself :)  Here is her tutorial.  I changed mine to suit me better :)  Can you tell what it is?
Supplies:
Paper: Beau Chateau DSP, Pink Pirouette, soft suede, marina mist
Tools: Big Shot, designer frames EF, wide oval punch, simply scored and diagonal plate, boho blossoms punch
Accessories: dimensionals, striped pink pirouette ribbon (retured) and a rhinestone brad.

It's a Bookmark!  Happy Reading!
(I recommend these trilogies: Hunger Games and Matched and the single book, Divergent)

Summer Smooches is Here!

AAAHHHHH...I don't know how SU! keeps coming up with these fun patterns and products!  I'm in LOVE again!  To remind you, here are the projects I have made with these products!  This promo is good for this month and then goes away until the new catalog comes out.
You have to have this petite purse die.  I'm thinking a mini bag of MMs will fit in here.

Smooches Designer Fabric.  Doing this class May 19th :)
